Pre-Birth Education

"Our attitude toward the newborn should not be one of compassion but rather of reverence before the mystery of creation, that a spiritual being has been confined with limits perceptible to us."                                                                                                                                                              - Maria Montessori

Montessori for Expectant Parents

Come learn about the philosophy of Maria Montessori as it applies to your pregnancy, labor, birth, and after your baby is born. Topics covered include the sensory-rich life of your unborn baby and how learning begins prior to birth. Discover ways for you to contact and communicate with your baby during pregnancy, and how this practice helps in the transition and adaptation of your newborn right after birth. And, the definition of a prepared inner and outer environment for you and your baby; how understanding your options, choices, and creating your intention for birthing has great impact on your experience.

One-on-One Support

Along with my traditional five-class series, you may contact me to talk about an arrangement of support to meet your unique needs. These might include a one-day childbirth class, or even support via video conferencing....and other creative ways that I can be of support and guidance for you during this profound time and journey in your life.

If you are interested, contact me so that we can set up a time to talk. My experience and support has helped hundreds of families over the years, and I want to extend my service to assist you...even if we are not physically close...we can be so in virtual ways.

Preparing for Baby

Before your baby arrives, my one-on-one consultation will help guide you to prepare your home environment to welcome your newborn.

Through our four-hour session in your home, we will focus on areas such as

  • Creating a nest for renewal and recovery; a place to nourish each other
  • Choosing what is essential in selection of baby materials (registry)
  • Ways to bond as a family, and the importance of creating and protecting your early weeks at home.
  • Setting up your space; options and design to fit your intentions and plans

To find out more, including cost and scheduling your session, go to the Contact Me page, or give me a call at 814.440.4237.

“At birth, the child leaves a person – his mother’s womb – and this makes him independent of her bodily functions. The baby is next endowed with an urge, or need, to face the outer world and to absorb it. We might say that he is born with ‘the psychology of world conquest.'”
